Free Production Assistant Workshop at CSU School of Film & Media Arts (02/15/2025)

The Greater Cleveland Film Commission hosted a Production Assistant Workshop on Saturday, February 15th at the CSU School of Film & Media Arts.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our second Production Assistant Workshop of 2025!

Led by Directors Guild of America (DGA) First Assistant Director Tony Evanovich, with credits including White Noise, Cherry, The Fate of the Furious, White Boy Rick, and more.

Attendees learned how to get started as Production Assistants (P.A.). P.A.s are essential support for the cast and crew on a production. This entry-level position is the best place to learn how a set operates and how to start a career in the industry.

Workshop topics included:

  • How to structure your resumé to stand out
  • Set hierarchy & responsibilities
  • Set terminology, protocols & etiquette
  • Call sheets, sides, DooDs, shooting schedules
  • Strip boards, production reports
  • Hour-by-hour walkthrough of a day on the set of The Shawshank Redemption
