One of the core pillars of GCFC’s mission is workforce development. To that end, we offer programs that help current and aspiring production professionals keep up with industry best practices from industry experts, which ensures that they are ready to handle any task that a visiting production might require. We also work with local educators to help students who have a desire to enter a career in media production gain exposure to the industry.
One way that we do that is by hosting interns in our GCFC office. Throughout the year, several opportunities are available to those interested in media production to come work with us and learn not only about the industry but also about non-profit organizations and day-to-day office life. We also host students for limited time shadowing and senior projects, which usually last anywhere from one day to one week.
We’ve hosted high school and college students, as well as graduates, veterans, and others looking to work close to the industry while they plan their next move. Since 2007, we have hosted more than 120 students from:
Baldwin Wallace University
Beachwood High School
Beaumont High School

And more!
It’s not all set visits and movie screenings (though that does happen from time to time); there’s a variety of tasks to complete in the office whether it’s stuffing welcome packets for incoming productions, acting as a runner for important documents, working as support at one of our events, or anything and everything that might come up on a given day.
For those interns who have a background in film, there is the possibility of placement on a production. Several interns have started work in the office, only to get the call to fill a job on set. However, the availability of those jobs is at the sole discretion of the productions that are in town at any given time. We will always inquire as to whether such opportunities are available, though we cannot guarantee placement.
Internships questions can be directed to Workforce Development Coordinator Maria Rouzzo at [email protected].
