ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF STUDIO SAFETY AND SERVICES
Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Academic Affairs; this full-time role serves as a vital member of the studio operations team, supervising the Academic Affairs Operations Manager and designated studio technicians. As the Assistant Director of Studio Safety & Services, you’ll guide a team of professionals dedicated to ensuring the safe practices of our college’s state-of-the-art fabrication spaces and studios. You’ll be at the forefront of supporting academic functions related to Environmental Health and Safety —empowering our faculty and students to thrive in a safe and innovative environment.
This role leads the Studio Operations team in improving the safety and capabilities of all academic shop/studio spaces across campus to include developing safety protocols for training staff and faculty as well as educating students, developing and maintaining environmental health and safety programs, and implementing best practices as related to the academic studios.
The candidate should hold a Bachelor’s Degree in a relative field, and/or 3-5 years of professional experience in an art and design role.  Proven experience managing people and leading teams. The candidate must possess a positive attitude, excellent written and verbal skills, strong organizational and management skills, demonstrated strong ability to manage health and safety initiatives across studio operations. With exceptional organizational and project management skills, this role will lead efforts to ensure compliance with safety protocols and proactively address any safety concerns. Knowledge of fume and particulate ventilation systems such as dust collection and fume extraction. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Google Suite, and Adobe CC.
Compensation: This is a full-time, exempt position. Compensation is commensurate with experience and qualifications. CIA offers a benefit package including; paid time off bank, as well as additional time off while the college is closed during winter break. TENURE-TRACK ASSISTANT / ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR OF ANIMATION

Inviting applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor of Animation with expertise in emerging technologies such as AR/VR, immersive media, or AI. Candidates will preferably have a professional background with work in 3D modeling and/or 3D animation. Candidates should have an active practice, working to integrate with critical perspectives on art and design. This might include working in emerging practices, connecting to online worldbuilding, interface design, video production, game design, networked communities, emerging information ecologies, creative AI, or experiences including augmented, virtual, and mixed reality (AR/VR/MR).

In addition to teaching, the successful candidate will develop curriculum in immersive media, help in the success of the Interactive Media Lab (IML), and continue to develop their own personal practice.
Responsibilities
  • Teach 3 courses per semester, 6 courses per year (3/3), including core studios and seminars, as well as studio electives within an area(s) of expertise.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to maintain and evolve learning outcomes, teaching practices, and pedagogical approaches.
  • Co-create cross-disciplinary opportunities for students across the curriculum, taking advantage of qualities distinctive to CIA, including the Integrated Media Lab (IML) and the Engaged Practice program, in alignment with colleague and student interests.
  • Help shape the student experience. Mentor, advise, and advocate for students, in both academic and professional contexts through fostering engagement and building community.
  • Actively engage in creative research and/or practice that advances the field.
  • Participate in service activities within the division, institution, and broader communities, contributing to CIA’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Required Qualifications
  • MFA or terminal degree in a closely related field; or a BFA and substantial professional experience in the field.
  • Evidence of professional work that demonstrates a fluidity between traditional and emerging technologies.
  • A record of successful teaching and mentorship experience, with a demonstrated commitment to increasing equity, inclusion, and sustainability in art and design.
  • Ability to engage with diverse communities and foster an inclusive learning environment.

TENURE-TRACK ASSISTANT / ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR OF GRAPHIC DESIGN
Inviting applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor of Graphic Design. The ideal candidate will be a maker, thinker, and inclusive educator, whose teaching and professional practices build on the fundamentals of visual communication to expand and evolve the field. The candidate will possess depth in a broad range of capacities and demonstrate the ability to teach a wide array of courses across the design curriculum. Candidates should speak to how they will contribute to CIA’s interdisciplinary connections, advancing core design principles and their applications across various contexts and topics, such as emerging technologies, design justice and social design, and sustainability. Candidates should have an active practice, working to integrate new modes and means of making and engaging with critical perspectives on art and design.

  • Ability to engage with diverse communities and foster an inclusive learning environment.

FIGURE MODEL

Seeking candidates for CIA’s pool of actors and figure models, an integral part of our art and design curriculum. All body types and genders are welcome.

Figure models pose nude (and possibly clothed) for life drawing courses. Poses will be approximately 15-20 minutes each, with direction from the instructor.

Schedule: Hourly, as needed for assignments, day and evening hours.  Day sessions are 2.5 hours in the morning and 2.5 hours in the afternoon (same class).  Evening sessions are 2 hours.  Applicant must be 21 years or older, reliable and punctual. Previous modeling experience or experience in yoga preferred, but not necessary.
